Many people, especially mothers, immigrate to the U.S. to seek a new beginning. Mothers who immigrate to the United States do so for their children back in their countries. They feel that it would be better for them to make money in the U.S. and send it back to their children. The children of these mothers often miss their mothers so dearly that they travel all the way to the United States to find them.

My mother’s parents were originally from Peru. In this story I will speak of my grandparents and why they decided to come to the United States. My grandmother, Eloisa, met my grandfather, Hugo Zully Pinzas, because of her father’s business. My family is Incan. An Incan is a member of the group of Quechuan peoples who ruled Peru before the Spanish conquest. My great grandfather used to own his own ice cream company in Suanuco, Peru. They met one another when they were in high school and were together ever since. My grandmother gave birth to five beautiful girls. My mother, Zully Josepha Castellanos, and her twin, Fabiola Pinzas, are the oldest of the five girls. Because there were many problems going on in Peru my mother made the decision to come to the United States. In Peru there was a civil war going on and the economy was unfortunately low. My mother’s uncle, a pastor, helped provide them with some money and especially with transportation to come to the United States. My uncle was very helpful to my mother and the rest of the family.

The first place they landed when they came to the United States was Miami, Florida. My grandparents did not like it much in Miami and things were rough so they decided to New York, New York. In New York there was to much crime for my family. They decided to leave from New York because there was too many gangs and too much violence. Once they left New York they knew some family in Glendale. My family ventured to Glendale, California.

My mother met my father in Panorama City through a friend. Before this my mother was married to a gay guy, her friend. When my mother and father met it was almost like love at first sight, however, they never married. My mother had already had a son from another man and then had my sister from my dad, Richard Eric Waldron. My sister was born on April 30, 1984. I was born on December 10, 1990. Currently my mom and I live together and she works for the city. My mother works for IHSS, an in home service system. I go to Allen F. Daily High School. My sister, Mary Zully Waldron, is now twenty-four years old and currently lives in Glendale with her boyfriend, Chris Garchitorena, and their son, Martin Vance Garchitorena. I do not know where my father is. Life is different for my family now and we have all overcome many obstacles. I love most of my family and appreciate their journey. Otherwise I would not have been born.
