I love America, California, especially; so many opportunities, great education and not to mention the gorgeous state. I was born and raised in beautiful California and wouldn’t have it any other way.

My parents moved to California while my mother was pregnant with me. My parents were born in Iran and moved to Armenia at a young age. Many hardships and economic problems led my parents to the promise lands. Both sides of my families’ grandparents were born and raised in the small city of Tehran. Soon when my parents were born they decided to move out into the more urbanized area of Iran to optimize the opportunities that my parents could have.

My family has always been very educationally based so being great parents that they were, both my moms’ and dads’ parents moved to Armenian while they were still very young. There were many hardships in Armenia, a tattered country; the victims of genocide by the Turks. The economy was bad and it was quickly getting worse. Money was low, poverty and depression rates were high yet they loved their country.

Both my parents went to the same high school where they fell in love. Both did very well in school and my father continued his Education by getting a full-ride scholarship to a very well known University, which was an accomplishment in itself because of the money. My mother became pregnant with my sister. Things in Armenia were getting worse. My father was drafted into the service. When my sister was born they decided that America would be the best place for their little girl and soon baby boy to be raised.

My sister was 3 and my mom was 8 months pregnant with me when they decided to take the journey to California. My father found a job and my mother started going to Community College. We were off to great start in the land of opportunity. Money was tight but we had a roof over our head, help from the government and milk for me. After the first 3 months my parents were living better than they ever had in Armenia my sister and I were well on our way to get a wonderful education and becoming successful Californians’.

To think about from where we’ve come from in only 100 years to where we are now is amazing. America is an amazing country. No matter who you are; where you’re from you can come here and have the equal opportunity to be exactly what you want to be and to make money for yourself. It’s all up to you. California is my home. I was born in the heart of LA and I will never leave California. I hope to raise my kids here someday as well.
